S.H.E LA
Supporting, Healing and Empowering Los Angeles Women and Girls

Picture
In 2013, CABWHP joined forces with T.H.E. Health Wellness Center and the Los Angeles Urban League to develop a partnership known as S.H.E. LA (Supporting, Healing and Empowering Los Angeles Women), which empowered the physical, mental and emotional well-being of Los Angeles women of color, and linked women to preventive health care services and treatment.

During the first year of this collaborative effort, the partnership:
  •  provided primary medical care and case management services to more than 1,000 unduplicated women and girls in South LA.
  • provided outreach and health education services to a minimum of 1,000 women and girls with an emphasis on the intersection between domestic violence, mental health and sexually transmitted infection prevention and treatment.
In 2015, S.H.E. LA continued the work detailed above, including conducting outreach and providing education about Affordable Care Act, Medi-Cal and Covered California eligibility and enrollment to a minimum of 2,500 unduplicated South LA residents.

The longtime partnership between CABWHP, T.H.E. Health and Wellness Center (formerly T.H.E. Clinic), and the Los Angeles Urban League has improved health outcomes for the South Los Angeles community.
